All mortar joints are tooled and/or compressed. Units may be laid upside down at random. Quarter, half, and three-quarter pieces work well with the random pattern.

Materials

Jacobsville Designer Series

Jacobsville BlockStone™

This architectural masonry unit is produced with a split face and is designed to simulate the sandstone blocks cut from the Jacobsville Quarry. The soft red tones of the masonry unit have been specially blended from aggregates and color which match the uniqueness of this Lake Superior quarry. Jacobsville BlockStone gives the designer endless creative flexibility as the units are available in full or half high.

Jacobsville RockStone™

In Michigan’s Copper Country and throughout the Midwest, thousands of fine examples of Jacobsville sandstone exist on large family homes, churches, city halls and libraries, to name a few. Jacobsville RockStone is produced to give the designer the look of the Jacobsville Quarry’s non-processed stone but at a cost effective price and with quick availability. The wall is filled with a spectacular shadow effect throughout the soft red tones of the masonry using multiple splitters during the fabrication process. These units are available in full high 4″, 10″, 12″, or half high 4″ veneer.

Jacobsville RedStone™

RedStone is a masonry unit produced with the colors and aggregates designed to simulate the smooth architectural pieces crafted by the artisans at the Jacobsville Quarry. The soft red tones match the natural beauty of this Lake Superior geological color and provide the designer with a smooth sand finish.

Product Information Sheet

General: The Jacobsville Designer Series was developed as a substitute for the sandstone found near Jacobsville which was a popular construction material that was quarried from Michigan’s Copper Country. After years of testing, Superior Block has been able to consistently match the Jacobsville sandstone’s soft red tones and has developed a product line that includes a variety of shapes and sizes in both full and half high configurations. The ability to manufacture this product in so many shapes and sizes had made the product user friendly with architects, builders, developers and owners. The Jacobsville Designer Series’ physical performance, availability and inexpensive cost have made it a valued alternative in the marketplace.

Physical Performance: The Jacobsville Designer Series exceeds the requirements of ASTM-C90 for strength and absorption. Only the best liquid color pigments are used in the manufacture of this product. The soft-red tones are achieved by the accurate blending of pigments and the selection of blended aggregates that are unique to the Copper Country. BlockStone, RockStone, and RedStone are made with an integral water resistant polymer during the manufacturing process. Dry-Block resists water penetration. This system for water repellency requires excellent workmanship and design details. A surface sealer is recommended for all types of architectural masonry including the Designer Series.

Availability: The Jacobsville Designer Series can normally be delivered within four to six weeks from date of order. This response time is the exception in the construction industry where order times for materials can often result in months of delay.
