Castle Rock Statistics
Castle Rock is an architectural concrete masonry unit in which the 8″ x 16″ surface is subdivided into three unequal sections in the mold. Further these sections are split automatically on different planes which provides four different shapes in each pair of blocks.
Castle Rock units are laid in running (half) bond. Units are selected randomly so as not to create a defined pattern. The back side of the block is kept smooth and plumb. All mortar joints are tooled and/or compressed. Units may be laid upside down at random. Quarter, half, and three-quarter pieces work well with the random pattern.
Castle Rock is made with normal weight aggregates complying with ASTM C-33 or, where appropriate, lightweight aggregates complying with ASTM C-331.
Integral color is mixed with the cement and aggregates to match the color selection offered by the concrete block manufacturer of Castle Rock
Castle Rock is manufactured in nominal face dimensions 8″ high x 16″ long in standard thicknesses(4″,8″,12″,etc.). Special shapes are provided for as required for corners, jambs, control joints, and lintels.

Product Information Sheet
General: The Jacobsville Designer Series was developed as a substitute for the sandstone found near Jacobsville which was a popular construction material that was quarried from Michigan’s Copper Country. After years of testing, Superior Block has been able to consistently match the Jacobsville sandstone’s soft red tones and has developed a product line that includes a variety of shapes and sizes in both full and half high configurations. The ability to manufacture this product in so many shapes and sizes had made the product user friendly with architects, builders, developers and owners. The Jacobsville Designer Series’ physical performance, availability and inexpensive cost have made it a valued alternative in the marketplace.
Physical Performance: The Jacobsville Designer Series exceeds the requirements of ASTM-C90 for strength and absorption. Only the best liquid color pigments are used in the manufacture of this product. The soft-red tones are achieved by the accurate blending of pigments and the selection of blended aggregates that are unique to the Copper Country. BlockStone, RockStone, and RedStone are made with an integral water resistant polymer during the manufacturing process. Dry-Block resists water penetration. This system for water repellency requires excellent workmanship and design details. A surface sealer is recommended for all types of architectural masonry including the Designer Series.
Availability: The Jacobsville Designer Series can normally be delivered within four to six weeks from date of order. This response time is the exception in the construction industry where order times for materials can often result in months of delay.
Architectural Design Professionals are encouraged to contact the manufacturer for special shape availability.
